How to apply for Medicare Savings Programs (QMB / SLMB / QI) — Massachusetts
MassHealth; Executive Office of Aging & Independence
Who it's for
Massachusetts pays Medicare costs for residents with limited income — with no asset test, so savings do not count. QMB (monthly income at or below 190% of the poverty level: $2,527 single / $3,427 couple) pays Part A and B premiums plus deductibles, coinsurance, and copays; SLMB/QI (up to 225% FPL: $2,993 / $4,058) pays the Part B premium. Both levels add Health Safety Net coverage and automatic Extra Help with drug costs. The standalone application takes about 5 minutes — no need to be on MassHealth.
