How paid placements work here.

Every placement is labeled

Local resource listings use three labels, and each means one thing only. “Verified Resource” means a reviewer checked the business's identity, contact details, service area and any required license. “Featured” means the listing gets higher placement because of a paid subscription or a promotional offer. “Sponsored” marks a placement that was directly sponsored, such as a county or category sponsor slot, and sponsored blog and newsletter messages, which also carry a disclosure sentence. Nothing paid is ever presented as editorial content or as an official government resource.

How listings are ordered

Listings come in three levels: Featured first, then Verified, then Basic. Basic listings are free and show a business's name, category, phone, street address and a short description. Verified and Featured are paid monthly subscriptions. Inside each level the order rotates daily, so every business at the same level gets a fair turn at the top. A sponsored slot, when one is sold for a county or category, appears first and is labeled “Sponsored.” This ordering is disclosed on every directory page.

The “Local resources” box shown after an eligibility check includes only Verified and Featured listings: paid listings whose business passed a review. The same box on county benefit pages includes Featured listings only. Basic listings appear in the Services directory, by category and county. The box is always separate from benefit results and never changes them.

What verification means

DiscoverSeniorBenefits has verified certain identifying and service-area information supplied by this business. Verification does not constitute an endorsement, recommendation, warranty, or guarantee of services. Verification checks the details the business supplied — name, address, phone, website, service area, and a professional license or state registration where one applies. It is renewed every year; a listing that is not re-verified loses the badge until it is. Any listing can apply for verification; the badge shows while a Verified or Featured plan is active.

The wall: advertising never touches eligibility

Eligibility results are produced by deterministic rules tied to official .gov sources. Advertisers cannot buy placement in results, change how programs rank, or receive any information about the people who run eligibility checks. The directory and the eligibility check are separate systems.

Who may advertise

Every new listing, free or paid, is reviewed before going live. These categories are not accepted:

• • Medicare Advantage brokers
• • Hearing-aid sales
• • Lead generators
• • Debt-relief services
• • Reverse-mortgage brokers
• • Life-insurance sales

Resource standards

Every listed business and advertiser, free or paid, accepts these standards and must not:

• • Claim or imply affiliation with, or endorsement by, any government agency
• • Promise guaranteed benefits, guaranteed approval, or specific benefit amounts
• • Misstate prices, credentials, licensure, or service areas
• • Use a listing or sponsorship to collect or resell consumer data

Listings that break these rules are suspended or removed. Fees are handled per the refund terms in the Terms of Service.

Reporting a listing

Every listing profile has a “Report this listing” link. Reports go to a human reviewer and are checked against the advertiser's claims and official sources. Reports can also go to support@discoverseniorbenefits.com.

Agreement

Applying for a directory listing or signing up as a sponsor constitutes agreement to this policy. The version accepted is recorded with the application. Material changes to this policy update the version stamp above; continued advertising after a change means the updated policy applies.
