How to apply for Alabama SHIP — free Medicare and insurance counseling

Who it's for

The State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP) gives free counseling about Medicare and other health insurance. SHIP counselors can help you understand Medicare benefits, choose a Medicare prescription drug plan, answer questions about Medigap and long-term care insurance, help with Medicare claims and appeals, and point you to Medicare Savings Programs and other help in your area. Counselors do not sell insurance, and all records are confidential. Call your local Area Agency on Aging at 1-800-AGE-LINE (1-800-243-5463).
