How to apply for Handyworker Program (LA County)

Los Angeles County Development Authority (LACDA)

Who it's for

The Handyworker Program provides up to $9,000 in minor home repairs for low- and moderate-income homeowners in unincorporated Los Angeles County within the First, Fourth, and Fifth Supervisorial Districts. Covered repairs include minor plumbing, screen replacement, smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, garbage disposal, and small appliance replacement. Funded by federal Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) money administered by LACDA. The home must be owner-occupied (single-family, mobile home, condo, or townhome), owned for at least one year, and carry homeowner's insurance. There is no age or disability requirement — only income and location.

This program only serves homeowners in unincorporated areas of Los Angeles County within Supervisorial District 1, 4, or 5. Most addresses inside incorporated cities (and Districts 2 and 3) are not eligible. Confirm your home is in an eligible unincorporated community using the eligible-communities list on the program page, or call the district contact line, before you apply.
