How to apply for Sumter County Senior Services + Elder Options PSA 3 Network

Sumter County Senior Services + Elder Options (Aging Resources, Inc.) — the PSA 3 AAA designate covering Sumter and 15 other North Central FL counties

Who it's for

Sumter County participates in the Elder Options (Aging Resources, Inc.) network as one of the 16 counties served by the PSA 3 Area Agency on Aging. Elder Options coordinates Older Americans Act Title III nutrition through local contracted providers and county partners — including the Sumter County Senior Services Department and the Mid-Florida Community Services partnership that also funds Sumter County Transit. Congregate dining is available at senior centers across Sumter (Bushnell, Wildwood, and other communities), and home-delivered Meals on Wheels serves homebound Sumter seniors throughout the rural county and outside The Villages. Eligibility is age 60+ and Sumter residency. The Villages internal community programming includes additional senior activities specifically for Villages residents, but those are separate from the county/Elder Options OAA Title III delivery — non-Villages Sumter seniors rely on the Elder Options + Senior Services pathway. Apply by calling the Elder Helpline at 1-800-262-2243 (PSA 3 statewide) or the Florida Elder Helpline at 1-800-963-5337 for a needs assessment.

Sumter County senior nutrition services are coordinated through Elder Options (PSA 3 AAA), with local delivery through Sumter County Senior Services and partner agencies. Congregate meals require age 60+ and Sumter residency. Home-delivered meals additionally require documented homebound status. Call the Elder Helpline at 1-800-262-2243 to start. NOT MODELED HERE: Internal Villages community programming includes additional senior activities specifically for Villages residents, organized by the Villages community development district rather than the OAA Title III system. Villages residents have access to BOTH internal community programs AND OAA Title III services through Elder Options/Sumter — but the catalog only models the OAA Title III publicly-funded pathway because internal Villages programs are private master-planned community amenities available only to Villages residents.

What you'll need

  • Proof of Sumter County residency (utility bill, lease, or government correspondence)
