How to apply for Medicare Savings Programs (QMB / SLMB / QI) — Maryland

Maryland Department of Health

Who it's for

Maryland's Medicare Savings Programs pay Medicare costs for residents with limited income: QMB pays Part A and B premiums plus deductibles and copays; SLMB and QI pay the Part B premium. Maryland has expanded these programs with higher income limits than the federal floor. Enrolling also brings federal Extra Help with prescription costs. Apply at a local department of social services or call 1-800-638-3403 for current limits.

Maryland's expanded income limits change each year and the state page does not publish current dollars — the MSP unit (1-800-638-3403) applies them; a near-miss is still worth an application.
