How to apply for Energy Assistance (LIEAP and Crisis Intervention) - Cleveland County
Cleveland County Department of Social Services (NCDHHS LIEAP/CIP)
Who it's for
North Carolina's Low Income Energy Assistance Program (LIEAP) helps income-eligible Cleveland County households pay heating bills, and the Crisis Intervention Program (CIP) helps when a heating or cooling emergency or shutoff is imminent. Both are run locally by the Cleveland County Department of Social Services. Households where someone is 60 or older or has a disability can apply early each season (December), and all other households apply starting in January until funds run out. Apply online at ePASS (https://epass.nc.gov), or contact Cleveland County DSS at 980-484-6000.
LIEAP and CIP are income-tested and first-come, first-served until seasonal funds are exhausted, so this shows as a may-qualify result. Households with a member 60+ or with a disability may apply early (starting in December).
