How to apply for Medicare Savings Programs (QMB/SLMB/QI) — New Jersey
New Jersey Department of Human Services, Division of Medical Assistance and Health Services — administers NJ MSP
Who it's for
NJ Medicare Savings Programs (QMB, SLMB, QI) pay Medicare Part B premiums and (for QMB) cost-sharing. NJ uses the standard federal income limits: QMB ≤100% FPL (~$1,304/mo single), SLMB 100-120% FPL, QI 120-135% FPL. NJ DID NOT eliminate the resource test like NY and CT did in 2023 — federal asset limits still apply (~$9,660 single / ~$14,470 couple, 2026). Apply at the County Welfare Agency or via NJ FamilyCare. Combine with PAAD/Senior Gold for full Rx + Medicare relief.
NJ MSP still applies federal asset limits (~$9,660/$14,470). NJ did NOT join NY/CT in eliminating the resource test in 2023.
