How to apply for Medicare Savings Programs in Nevada (QMB, SLMB, QI-1)

Nevada Division of Social Services (DSS, formerly DWSS)

Who it's for

Nevada's Medicare Beneficiaries program helps people with Medicare pay their Medicare costs. QMB pays Medicare premiums, co-insurance and deductibles. SLMB and QI-1 pay the Medicare Part B premium. The 2026 monthly income limits are QMB $1,330 for one person or $1,804 for a couple, SLMB $1,596 or $2,164, and QI-1 $1,796 or $2,435. SLMB and QI-1 coverage can start in the month you apply, with up to three months of prior coverage. QMB starts the month after the decision. Apply online through Access Nevada or call DSS toll-free at 1-800-992-0900.

Shown against the highest tier (QI-1); lower income qualifies for more help. You must have or be able to get Medicare Part A. These programs also have a limit on savings and other resources, which changes each year. QI-1 is federally funded and can close if the state's yearly funding runs out, and people who get other Medicaid cannot get QI-1. DSS makes the final decision.
