How to apply for Mohawk Valley Health System (MVHS) — Wynn Hospital + Rome Health — Financial Assistance (Oneida County)

Mohawk Valley Health System (MVHS) — independent regional health system formed from the 2014 merger of Faxton St. Luke's and St. Elizabeth Medical Center; opened the new Wynn Hospital flagship in downtown Utica in 2023; also operates Rome Health (formerly Rome Memorial Hospital) in Rome

Who it's for

Oneida County's principal community hospital safety net is Wynn Hospital (Utica, MVHS) — the new flagship academic-affiliated tertiary referral hospital for the entire Mohawk Valley region (opened 2023); Rome Health (Rome, MVHS) serves western Oneida. The Financial Assistance Program covers uninsured/underinsured residents — sliding scale typically discounts charges up to 100% at the lower income brackets with reduced rates above. Note: NY Medicaid ABD's ~138% FPL gate means many Mohawk Valley seniors qualify for Medicaid and would access these hospitals through Medicaid rather than FAP. Apply at the hospital's financial counseling office or at https://www.mvhealthsystem.org/billing-and-financial-assistance. Phone: 315-624-6000.
