How to apply for Oregon County Veteran Service Offices: free help with VA claims

County and tribal Veteran Service Offices, trained and certified by the Oregon Department of Veterans' Affairs (ODVA)

Who it's for

Every Oregon county has a Veteran Service Office. An accredited Veteran Service Officer (VSO) helps veterans, their dependents and survivors at no cost. The VSO explains which benefits you may be eligible for, helps gather evidence, files VA disability and other claims, and helps with appeals. A VA rating also matters for Oregon benefits like the disabled veteran property tax exemption. Bring your DD-214 or other discharge papers to your first visit; the VSO can help you get a copy if you do not have one. Use the ODVA county directory to find your local office. No one needs to pay a private company to file a VA claim.

The VSO helps prepare and file claims; the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs decides federal benefits. Call your county office to set up a visit.
