How to apply for Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program (Alabama)
Alabama Department of Agriculture & Industries — Farmers Market Authority
Who it's for
Alabama's Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program gives low-income seniors a $50 benefit card each season to buy fresh fruits, vegetables, honey and fresh-cut herbs directly from Alabama farmers at farmers markets and roadside stands. You must be 60 or older on the day the benefit is issued and have gross household income at or below the program limit ($2,461 a month for one person, $3,337 for two). Benefits are issued first-come, first-served until the season's funds run out, and you must reapply every year. Applications for the 2027 season open online in January 2027 at agi-app.alabama.gov (phone and mail applications are not accepted); call the Farmers Market Authority at 334-240-7100 with questions.
No one is entitled to SFMNP benefits — cards are issued first-come, first-served until the season's budget is spent, so this shows as a may-qualify result. Income limits are set each year by the Farmers Market Authority. Not legal or financial advice.
