How to apply for Arkansas Homestead Property Tax Credit

Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration, Assessment Coordination Division (ACD), through your county assessor

Who it's for

Arkansas homeowners can get a credit of up to $500 a year off the property tax on the home they live in. Starting with the 2026 tax bills, the state has raised the credit to up to $600. There is no age or income limit. The home must be your principal place of residence, and you can claim only one homestead credit each year. You can still qualify if your home is held in a trust, if you deeded the home to someone else but kept a recorded life estate and still live there, and in some cases if you moved to a nursing home but still own the home. Apply once with your county assessor's office.

Only the record owner, a buyer under a recorded sales contract, or a person with a recorded life estate can claim it. The county assessor makes the final decision.
