How to apply for East Bay Paratransit (Alameda County)
East Bay Paratransit (AC Transit + BART joint service)
Who it's for
East Bay Paratransit is the federally mandated ADA complementary paratransit service jointly operated by AC Transit and BART for the East Bay. It serves people who, because of a disability or health-related condition, are unable to use regular AC Transit buses or BART trains independently for some or all trips, within the area served by AC Transit and BART regular service. Eligibility is functional: you complete a written application and attend an in-person interview, and your healthcare professional may be contacted for more information. Determinations are Full (all trips), Conditional/Limited (paratransit only for certain trips), or Temporary; full or conditional eligibility lasts five years. If the process takes longer than 21 days, you are presumptively eligible until a final determination is made. East Bay Paratransit covers both Alameda and Contra Costa counties.
ADA paratransit eligibility is functional and is determined through a written application plus an in-person interview (your healthcare professional may be contacted) — the scan cannot perform that evaluation. The service area is limited to where AC Transit and BART provide regular service in the East Bay. Request an application and schedule your interview by calling 1-510-287-5000 (option 5) or emailing Certification.EastBayPT@transdev.com.
