How to apply for Brevard County Housing and Human Services LIHEAP + Emergency Aid
Brevard County Housing and Human Services Department
Who it's for
The Brevard County Housing and Human Services Department administers the county's safety-net assistance programs: the federal Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) for utility-bill assistance; the federal Weatherization Assistance Program for home energy efficiency improvements; the Emergency Rental Assistance Program 2 (ERAP2) funded by the American Rescue Plan Act (allocated to six contracted local nonprofit subgrantees); and Housing Rehabilitation programs (replacement, rehab, and repair). LIHEAP is income-gated by household size against the federal poverty guidelines and is available year-round subject to funding availability. The Replacement Rehab and Repair Program helps low-to-moderate income homeowners with critical home repairs. Apply for LIHEAP and emergency aid by contacting the Department at (321) 633-2007, Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.; the LIHEAP Assistance Application is available for download at brevardfl.gov, and the Department's offices are at the Brevard County Government Complex.
Brevard's safety-net programs run on funding cycles — LIHEAP is available year-round but subject to funding availability, and the Emergency Rental Assistance Program 2 (ERAP2) is COVID-era ARPA funding administered through six contracted nonprofit subgrantees (not directly by the county). The income gate modeled here is approximately 150 percent of the Federal Poverty Income Guidelines ($23,400 for a single-person household 2026, scaled up by household size) for LIHEAP; the Weatherization Assistance Program uses similar income gates. The Replacement Rehab and Repair Program for homeowners uses HUD income brackets (typically up to 80% Area Median Income). Call Cassandra Green or the Housing and Human Services Department at (321) 633-2007 for current intake status and to be routed to the right program.
