How to apply for Tampa General Hospital Crystal River Financial Assistance

Tampa General Hospital Crystal River (formerly Bravera Health Seven Rivers, formerly HCA Seven Rivers) — TGH North network of Tampa General Hospital; USF Morsani College of Medicine affiliated; located in Crystal River (Citrus County)

Who it's for

Tampa General Hospital Crystal River is the Citrus County campus of the TGH North network (formerly Bravera Health, previously HCA Seven Rivers Hospital). Now operating as part of Tampa General Hospital — Florida's premier academic medical center affiliated with the University of South Florida (USF) Morsani College of Medicine — TGH Crystal River applies the substantially more generous TGH system-wide Financial Assistance Policy. Under the TGH FAP: (a) Charity — patients with annual household income between 0 and 300 percent of Federal Poverty Level receive a full charity discount (100% bill elimination) for emergent or medically necessary care; (b) Charity Catastrophic — patients are not billed if non-elective hospital charges exceed 25 percent of their annual household income (regardless of FPL tier); (c) Uninsured Discount Tier 1 — patients between 300-400% FPL pay an amount equivalent to traditional Medicare/managed Medicaid rates; (d) Uninsured Discount Tier 2 — patients above 400% FPL pay managed care insurance equivalent rates. The 300% FPL full-charity threshold is the most generous standard policy in the modeled FL cluster (more generous than AdventHealth's 250% and UF Health's 200%). TGH Crystal River patients also have access to TGH Tampa for specialty/tertiary referrals under the same financial assistance policy. Call (352) 610-5640 to start.

TGH Crystal River's 300% FPL = 100% charity threshold is the most generous standard hospital policy in the modeled FL cluster (modeled $46,800 figure is 300% FPL for a single-person household 2026; scaled up by household size). The Charity Catastrophic provision protects patients regardless of income if non-elective hospital charges exceed 25% of annual household income — a meaningful protection for unexpected major hospital events. For seniors at 200-300% FPL, TGH is materially more generous than HCA Citrus (200% FPL) and AdventHealth (250% FPL). Citrus County seniors should ALWAYS compare both Citrus County hospitals when choosing where to receive non-emergent care. For specialty/tertiary care, TGH Crystal River patients can access TGH Tampa under the same Financial Assistance Policy.
