How to apply for STREAM Public Transportation (Hendry County) — Fixed Route + Door-to-Door Paratransit + Age 55+ Senior Fare

STREAM Public Transportation Services — operated by Hendry County Board of County Commissioners under the County Engineer's Department; provides fixed-route bus service AND door-to-door paratransit for Hendry County (and Glades County) residents; office at United Way House, 133 North Bridge Street, LaBelle FL 33935

Who it's for

STREAM (Public Transportation Services) is Hendry County's public transit system operated by the Hendry County Board of County Commissioners under the County Engineer's Department. STREAM provides fixed-route bus service AND door-to-door paratransit for Hendry County residents (and also serves Glades County residents). Fixed-route service includes (1) Route 1 / GOLD LINE operating 6:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, and (2) Route 2 / GREEN LINE — a circular route making stops in LaBelle ONLY — operating 7:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. DISTINCTIVE FARE STRUCTURE: bus fare is $2.00 standard, but Seniors age 55+ pay only $1.00 with proper identification — the AGE 55 senior fare threshold is the YOUNGEST modeled in the FL catalog (compared to age 60 used by most peer Florida TD programs and age 65 used by RTS in Alachua). Door-to-door paratransit costs $2 each way and operates Monday through Saturday (Saturday service is uncommon for FL rural paratransit). Florida TD framework eligibility applies: age 60+ OR documented disability OR low-income transportation-disadvantaged status. To enroll in door-to-door paratransit, call (877) 935-4487 M-F 8am-5pm to determine eligibility. STREAM also serves residents of Glades County under the same operational umbrella.

STREAM's age 55+ senior fare threshold is the YOUNGEST modeled in the FL catalog — most peer FL transit operators use age 60 (Florida TD standard) or age 65 (RTS Alachua). The 55-59 age range gets the senior $1 fare on STREAM fixed routes but typically WON'T qualify for door-to-door paratransit under the Florida TD program's age 60+ pathway (unless they have a documented disability or low-income TD qualification). The Monday-SATURDAY paratransit service is uncommon for FL rural transit (most peer rural paratransit is M-F only). Glades County residents also use STREAM under the same operational umbrella — when Glades is modeled, this same STREAM record can be referenced. Hendry seniors in Clewiston (eastern part of county) face longer trips on the Gold Line; Green Line riders stay within LaBelle. For non-emergency medical care, STREAM can connect Hendry seniors to Hendry Regional Medical Center (Clewiston) for primary care + critical access services.
