UF Health Leesburg Hospital is the flagship Lake County hospital of the UF Health Central Florida network, located at 600 E. Dixie Avenue in Leesburg. As part of the UF Health system, the hospital benefits from the system's substantial commitment to charity care — $252.6 million in unsponsored charity care and social responsibility efforts across UF Health's Gainesville, Jacksonville, Leesburg, and The Villages facilities. Under the UF Health Financial Assistance Policy: patients with annual family adjusted income at or below 200 percent of the Federal Poverty Guidelines are eligible for up to a 100 percent discount on charges for emergency and medically necessary care. Uninsured patients may additionally qualify for a self-pay discount. UF Health's University of Florida College of Medicine affiliation means Leesburg patients have access to specialty/tertiary care referrals to UF Health Shands (Gainesville) and UF Health Jacksonville — the same UF Health financial assistance policy follows the patient. UF Health Leesburg provides emergency, urgent, and medically necessary care regardless of ability to pay. The 100% discount applies at ≤200% FPL (the modeled $31,200 figure is 200% FPL for a single-person household 2026; scaled up by household size). Uninsured patients receive a self-pay discount regardless of income. For specialty/tertiary care, Lake County patients are referred to UF Health Shands in Gainesville (via Lake County Connection paratransit Mon/Wed/Fri) or UF Health Jacksonville — the same financial assistance policy follows. AdventHealth Waterman (Tavares) is the alternative nonprofit hospital system in Lake County with a slightly more generous 250% FPL charity threshold — borderline-income Lake County seniors should consider both systems and apply where eligible.
