How to apply for LeeTran Passport ADA Paratransit

LeeTran Passport Service — Lee County Transit

Who it's for

Passport is LeeTran's ADA-mandated shared-ride paratransit service for Lee County residents whose disability prevents independent use of LeeTran fixed-route buses. The service is offered in strict accordance with the ADA Act of 1990: trips are provided when both origin and destination are within 3/4 mile of a fixed-route corridor. LeeTran classifies ADA eligibility into three categories — Category 1 covers persons whose disability prevents independent use of accessible buses entirely. Disability alone does NOT confer eligibility — Passport eligibility requires demonstration through the application and review process that disability functionally prevents fixed-route use. Visitors with ADA certification from another transit agency may use Passport during their visit with that documentation; visitors without prior certification but with disability documentation may receive presumptive eligibility for up to 21 days. Call the LeeTran Passport Office at (239) 533-0300, Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., for the application packet. The Passport service map shows whether your address falls within the 3/4-mile fixed-route corridor.

Passport eligibility is decided by the application + medical documentation + review process — disability alone does NOT confer eligibility. This scan can tell you that you appear functionally eligible to apply. Service is only available when both origin AND destination are within 3/4 mile of a LeeTran fixed-route corridor — addresses outside this corridor are not eligible regardless of disability status. Check the Passport service map on the LeeTran website before applying. Visitors with ADA certification from another transit agency may use the service during a visit; visitors without prior certification can get presumptive eligibility for 21 days with disability documentation.
