How to apply for StarMetro Dial-A-Ride ADA Paratransit
StarMetro — City of Tallahassee Transit
Who it's for
StarMetro Dial-A-Ride is Tallahassee's ADA-mandated shared-ride paratransit service for Leon County residents whose disability prevents them from independently using StarMetro fixed-route buses. The service is door-to-door within the StarMetro service area and operates during the same hours as fixed-route service. Eligibility is functional, not categorical — disability or use of a mobility aid alone does NOT guarantee eligibility. The application process requires submission of the Application for Transportation Assistance form, a Professional Verification form completed by the applicant's licensed healthcare professional (physician, occupational therapist, or other qualified provider), and an in-person or telephone interview with StarMetro staff. The same application form handles ADA paratransit AND Florida Transportation Disadvantaged (TD) eligibility — the latter is for low-income riders without ADA-qualifying disabilities. Call (850) 891-5199 to request the application packet or to schedule the eligibility interview.
Dial-A-Ride eligibility is functional, not categorical — disability alone is insufficient. This scan can tell you that you appear functionally eligible to apply, but the final determination requires (1) the Application for Transportation Assistance, (2) the Professional Verification form signed by a licensed healthcare professional, and (3) an in-person or telephone interview with StarMetro. The same application handles ADA paratransit AND Florida Transportation Disadvantaged (TD) eligibility — TD is for low-income riders without ADA-qualifying disabilities. Failure to submit complete documentation results in an incomplete application. Call (850) 891-5199 to request the packet.
