How to apply for Energy Assistance (LIHEAP) — St. Lucie County

The Agricultural and Labor Program, Inc. (ALPI) — Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program

Who it's for

The Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) helps income-eligible St. Lucie County households pay home heating and cooling bills, with crisis help when a shutoff is imminent or service is already off. In St. Lucie County it is delivered by The Agricultural and Labor Program, Inc. (ALPI). Households qualify with income at or below 150% of the federal poverty guidelines (or 60% of the state median income); priority goes to households with a member 60 or older, a person with a disability, or a young child. Payments usually go straight to the utility company.

LIHEAP is income-tested at or below 150% of the federal poverty guidelines (60% of state median income) and is served first-come, first-served while funds last, so this shows as a may-qualify result. Households with a member 60+ or disabled, or a young child, are prioritized.
