How to apply for AdventHealth Financial Assistance Policy (Seminole — Altamonte Springs hospitals)
AdventHealth — Adventist Health System; multiple hospital campuses serving Seminole County (AdventHealth Altamonte Springs, AdventHealth Orlando proximate to Seminole, AdventHealth Apopka)
Who it's for
AdventHealth is the dominant hospital system in Central Florida, with its flagship AdventHealth Orlando complex just south of Seminole County and AdventHealth Altamonte Springs as the primary Seminole-located hospital. Formerly known as Florida Hospital, AdventHealth is a faith-based private nonprofit health system (operated by Adventist Health System / Sunbelt) with §501(r) charity-care obligations. Its Financial Assistance Policy applies system-wide across all AdventHealth hospitals: patients with annual household income at or below 250 percent of the Federal Poverty Guideline receive a 100 percent reduction in financial responsibility for emergent or medically necessary care. Beyond charity care, AdventHealth provides Amounts Generally Billed (AGB) protection for uninsured patients — billing is capped at the average of all accounts paid in full over the past 12 months for Medicare, Medicare Advantage, and contracted commercial insurance. This means uninsured AdventHealth patients are never billed more than insured patients with similar coverage would pay. Apply by submitting the AdventHealth Financial Assistance Application with income documentation. Call 800-462-0490 for assistance; mail completed forms to AdventHealth, PO Box 935979, Atlanta, GA 31193-5979.
AdventHealth Financial Assistance is per-encounter and applies to emergent or medically necessary care only. Full 100% charity is available for patients at or below 250% of the Federal Poverty Guideline (the modeled $39,000 figure is 250% FPL for a single-person household 2026; scaled up by household size). Uninsured patients automatically receive Amounts Generally Billed (AGB) protection regardless of income — uninsured bills are capped at the equivalent of insurance-negotiated rates, which can mean a 60-80% reduction from list charges. Verification of income and supporting documentation is required for charity care; AGB protection applies automatically based on uninsured status. AdventHealth Altamonte Springs is the primary Seminole hospital; AdventHealth Orlando, AdventHealth Winter Park, and AdventHealth Apopka also serve Seminole residents.
