Winnebago County public transportation is the Rockford Mass Transit District (RMTD), with fixed-route buses across Rockford, Loves Park, and Machesney Park plus RMTD Paratransit. DISTINCTIVELY, senior citizens age 65+ ride FREE on RMTD fixed-route buses; RMTD Paratransit (ADA origin-to-destination) is $3 each way for eligible riders. The Illinois Benefit Access Program also provides free/reduced fares. Apply for a senior/paratransit ID at the RMTD office (201 N. Winnebago Street).
