How to apply for GPTC Half Fare (Lake County)

Gary Public Transportation Corporation (GPTC).

Who it's for

GPTC runs Gary's fixed-route buses. Local fares are $1.60 (adult) and $0.80 (half fare); regional routes are $2.25 and $1.00. Half fare is for senior citizens age 65 and older, riders with disabilities, and Medicare cardholders. Pre-approval is required: apply in person at the GPTC Metro Center (100 West 4th Avenue, 3rd floor, Gary, Mon-Fri 8:00-4:30 — a photo is taken), by mail, or online via the Half Fare application. Paratransit runs $2.50 local / $4.00 regional. Call 219-885-7555.

Lake: half fare requires pre-approval — apply at the Metro Center in Gary (or by mail/online) before riding at the reduced fare.
