How to apply for Team Heat winter heating-bill match (REAL Services) — St. Joseph County in Indiana
REAL Services, Inc. — Area 2 Community Action Agency and Area Agency on Aging (South Bend), in partnership with United Way and Tire Rack
Who it's for
Team Heat helps St. Joseph County households with income up to 250% of the federal poverty guidelines keep up with winter heating bills. REAL Services matches up to $200 a month of what the household pays toward its heating bill during the winter months. Participants work with a Family Development Consultant on a goal plan, apply for the state Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP), and attend a budgeting class. Call 574-284-2060 for more information.
Team Heat is a matching program: the household must pay its share each month, and the match depends on program funding and on completing the goal plan and budgeting class. REAL Services decides who is accepted. The income screen here is 250% of the one-person poverty guideline; larger households have higher limits.
