How to apply for Senior Income Tax Credit (65+) — Maryland

Comptroller of Maryland

Who it's for

Maryland gives residents 65 and older a nonrefundable state income-tax credit: $1,000 for single filers with federal adjusted gross income up to $100,000, and $1,750 for joint filers (both 65+) up to $150,000. Claim it on the Maryland income tax return — no separate application. Maryland also does not tax Social Security benefits.

The credit is nonrefundable (it offsets tax owed); the Comptroller applies the AGI limits from the return.
