How to apply for Senior Property Tax Freeze (SB 190) — Jasper

Jasper County (program authorized by RSMo 137.1050, adopted by county action)

Who it's for

Jasper County has adopted Missouri's senior property tax credit (SB 190): homeowners 62 or older can freeze the real-estate tax bill on their primary home, so it stops rising in later years. Applications: February 2, 2026 through May 31, 2026 (new applications and renewals). Under the heading "SB190, APPLICATION FOR SENIOR CITIZEN TAX CREDIT": "Applications for the Senior Citizen Tax credit will be available February 2, 2026, at the Carthage Office of the Collector. Applicants will have the option to file online this year utilizing the QR Code or PIN generated on the renewal. We will accept completed applications until May 31, 2026 at the Collector's Office, Room 107, in the historic Courthouse on the square in Carthage, MO. All renewal applications will also be accepted during this time." The site also posts the enabling ordinance at https://jaspercountycollector.com/docs/jasper_notice_sb190.pdf. Collector Steven E. McIntosh, Jasper County Courthouse, 302 S. Main - Room 107, Carthage MO 64836; Carthage office 417-358-0409 (personal property) / 417-358-0411 (real property); Joplin office 417-625-4324. Apply through the county's program office.

The freeze applies only to the primary residence, requires an application with Jasper County (often annually), and county rules control what is frozen and any home-value limits — the county makes the final determination, so this shows as a may-qualify result.
