Johnson County has adopted Missouri's senior property tax credit (SB 190): homeowners 62 or older can freeze the real-estate tax bill on their primary home, so it stops rising in later years. Applications: Application Period for the Program Is April 1, 2026 - June 30, 2026. The Johnson County Commission passed "Ordinance #25-01 Authorizing a Property Tax Credit Pursuant to Senate Bill 190 and Senate Bill 756" on March 17, 2025. Applications must be signed in front of Collector's staff or a notary and submitted before the June 30 deadline. The credit does not apply to agricultural or commercial property.
