How to apply for Home energy bill help (LIHEAP) through AJFC Community Action Agency — Copiah in Mississippi

AJFC Community Action Agency

Who it's for

AJFC Community Action Agency takes LIHEAP applications for Copiah County. The Hazlehurst office is at 133 West Gallatin St, Suite 102, Hazlehurst. Phone: (601) 894-4745. LIHEAP (Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program) helps pay home energy bills, and the Energy Crisis Intervention Program (ECIP) helps in an energy emergency. A household typically qualifies with income at or below 60% of the state median income for its size and an energy bill due. Households with elderly or disabled members get priority. To apply, submit a pre-application online through the Common Web Portal on Access MS and mark "Community Services". The agency will then send you an appointment to finish the application in person; if you are elderly or disabled, expect the appointment within 30 business days. The yearly benefit can be up to $1,500.

Funding is limited and first-come, first-served. The Community Action Agency decides eligibility and the benefit amount.
