How to apply for Home energy bill help (LIHEAP) through Southwest Mississippi Opportunity, Inc. — Walthall
Southwest Mississippi Opportunity, Inc.
Who it's for
Southwest Mississippi Opportunity, Inc. takes LIHEAP applications for Walthall County. The Tylertown office is at 901 Union Rd., Tylertown. Phone: (601) 876-4511. LIHEAP (Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program) helps pay home energy bills, and the Energy Crisis Intervention Program (ECIP) helps in an energy emergency. A household typically qualifies with income at or below 60% of the state median income for its size and an energy bill due. Households with elderly or disabled members get priority. To apply, submit a pre-application online through the Common Web Portal on Access MS and mark "Community Services". The agency will then send you an appointment to finish the application in person; if you are elderly or disabled, expect the appointment within 30 business days. The yearly benefit can be up to $1,500.
Funding is limited and first-come, first-served. The Community Action Agency decides eligibility and the benefit amount.
