How to apply for NC Targeting Program — Permanent Supportive Housing for Adults with Disabilities

Who it's for
The Targeting Program sets aside affordable apartments ("Targeted Units") in tax-credit housing across North Carolina for adults with disabilities who head their household. Key Rental Assistance can lower the rent so it is affordable on a very low income. You must be referred by a participating service agency — for example your county Department of Social Services or a behavioral health provider — which helps you pick a unit and join its waitlist. Tenants have the same lease and rights as their neighbors.
Household income must be below 50% of area median income (30% for some units), which varies by county, and you must be connected to a participating service agency that receives supportive services with you. Units open as they become available from waitlists.
