Hunterdon County hospital safety net: Hunterdon Medical Center (Flemington, Hunterdon Health) is the principal community hospital — one of NJ's LAST INDEPENDENT community hospital systems (most others have merged into RWJBarnabas, Hackensack Meridian, or Atlantic Health). Hunterdon Health operates its own Financial Assistance Program. Distinctive — Hunterdon is one of NJ's few INDEPENDENT hospital systems remaining; the affluent rural Hunterdon market has resisted system consolidation. ALL NJ acute-care hospitals (including Hunterdon Medical Center) participate in NJHCPAP.

Each system also operates its own Financial Assistance Program above NJHCPAP for those between 300-400% FPL.
