How to apply for New Jersey Senior Farmers' Market Nutrition Program (SFMNP) — $40 Produce Benefit
New Jersey Department of Agriculture and Department of Health, through each county's office on aging
Who it's for
The Senior Farmers' Market Nutrition Program helps New Jerseyans age 60 or older buy fresh fruits, vegetables, and herbs grown by New Jersey farmers. Each eligible senior gets a one-time $40 benefit each summer to use at approved farm stands and farmers' markets. Gross household income must be at or below $29,526 a year for one person or $40,034 for two. Benefits are handed out by your county office on aging while supplies last. Call your county office on aging to find out when and where to sign up (Mercer County: 609-989-6661).
A small seasonal benefit: $40 once a year. Benefits are limited and handed out by county offices on aging during the summer, often first come, first served, so sign-up dates vary by county.
