How to apply for NJ WorkAbility — Medicaid for Working People with Disabilities in New Jersey
New Jersey Department of Human Services, Division of Disability Services (DDS) with the Division of Medical Assistance and Health Services (DMAHS) — NJ FamilyCare
Who it's for
NJ WorkAbility gives full Medicaid coverage to people with a disability who work, even if their income or savings are too high for regular Medicaid. There is no income limit and no asset limit, and a spouse's income is not counted. You must be at least 16, live in New Jersey, have a job (full or part time), and have been found disabled by Social Security or the state before age 65. People who keep working after 65 can stay eligible if their disability was found before 65. If your countable income is above 250% of the federal poverty level, you pay a monthly premium, from $203 up to $1,218 in 2026. Apply with the NJ FamilyCare Aged, Blind, Disabled application, online or at your county social services office. Questions: call 1-888-285-3036.

There is no income or asset limit, but people with countable income above 250% of the federal poverty level pay a monthly premium ($203 to $1,218 in 2026). NJ FamilyCare makes the final decision.
