How to apply for Nevada Energy Assistance Program (EAP / LIHEAP)

Who it's for

Nevada's Energy Assistance Program (EAP) helps low-income households pay home heating and cooling costs. It is funded by the federal LIHEAP block grant and Nevada's Universal Energy Charge. Eligible households get a once-a-year benefit that is usually paid straight to the energy company. For the July 1, 2026 to June 30, 2027 program year, gross monthly income must be at or below $1,995 for one person, $2,705 for two, $3,415 for three, or $4,125 for four (150 percent of the federal poverty guidelines). You must live in Nevada and pay at least part of your heating or cooling costs. Special help is also available for past-due bills, for households facing a shutoff after a loss of income, and for people with a long-term illness and high medical costs. Applications are taken all year until funds run out.

What you'll need

• Proof of all income for every person in the household for at least the last 30 days
• Proof of identity for the head of household
• Proof of citizenship or legal status, if born outside the United States
• Copies of your most recent heating and cooling bills
• If the utility bill is not in your name, a signed note from the person on the bill saying you may apply
