How to apply for Area Agency on Aging of the Lower Rio Grande Valley + Rio-Net ADRC (Cameron County)

Area Agency on Aging of the Lower Rio Grande Valley (AAA-LRGV) — a division of the Lower Rio Grande Valley Development Council (LRGVDC); designated Area Agency on Aging under the Older Americans Act Title III for the 3-county Lower RGV region (Cameron, Hidalgo, Willacy); supported by the Rio-Net ADRC

Who it's for

The Area Agency on Aging of the Lower Rio Grande Valley (AAA-LRGV) serves Cameron County as part of its tri-county Lower RGV service area (Cameron, Hidalgo, Willacy), operated as a division of the Lower Rio Grande Valley Development Council (LRGVDC). Cameron County represents 40% of AAA-LRGV's Citizens Advisory Council representation (Hidalgo 50%, Willacy 10%). Services provided through subcontracts with various Valley agencies include: (1) Title III Congregate Meals at senior centers across Cameron County (Brownsville, Harlingen, San Benito); (2) Home-Delivered Meals for homebound seniors age 60+; (3) Long-Term Care Ombudsman; (4) Provider Home Care (PHC); (5) Durable Medical Equipment; (6) Medical and senior-center transportation referrals; (7) Case management; (8) Eyeglass vouchers; (9) Benefits Counseling (SHIP/HICAP Medicare counseling). Apply by calling the Statewide TX AAA line at 1-855-937-2372 or emailing Rio-NetADRC@lrgvdc.org. Main office: 301 W. Railroad St., Weslaco TX 78596.

AAA-LRGV serves Cameron County through subcontracts with various Cameron-area agencies — Cameron seniors may be served by different subcontractor organizations depending on which service they need. Cameron seniors in Brownsville have the largest meal site network; Harlingen and San Benito have meaningful capacity; rural eastern Cameron County (Port Isabel, Laguna Vista) has more limited site coverage. The tri-county subcontracting model means application intake can route applicants to the nearest Cameron-specific Service Provider.
