How to apply for ATCOG Premium Support Program — Health Insurance Marketplace Premium Help (Red River County)

Ark-Tex Council of Governments (ATCOG), the regional council for nine northeast Texas counties (Bowie, Cass, Delta, Franklin, Hopkins, Lamar, Morris, Red River, Titus), with grant funding from CHRISTUS St. Michael Health System.

Who it's for

Help paying the monthly premium on a Health Insurance Marketplace plan. ATCOG runs the Premium Support Program with grant money from CHRISTUS St. Michael Health System for people who have enrolled through the Health Insurance Exchange. If you qualify, the program can cover your premium — the monthly amount charged for the coverage. To qualify you must enroll through the Health Insurance Exchange and choose a Silver plan, have income between 100% and 150% of the Federal Poverty Income Guidelines, and be a Texas resident. Call ATCOG at 903-832-8636 for the application.

This helps only with a Health Insurance Marketplace plan — you must already be enrolled through the Health Insurance Exchange and have chosen a Silver plan. If you have Medicare you are not in a Marketplace plan, so this program does not apply to you. Income must fall between 100% and 150% of the Federal Poverty Income Guidelines and you must be a Texas resident. Arkansas residents do not qualify — their premiums are covered through Arkansas Works. The income screen used here is a generous outer bound; ATCOG confirms the exact figures at application, and the program is grant-funded, so ask whether funds are still available.

What you'll need

  • Proof of Health Insurance Marketplace enrollment in a Silver plan
