How to apply for Area Agency on Aging services (R6 Regional Council, formerly Six County AAA) — Juab in Utah
R6 Regional Council (Six County Area Agency on Aging)
Who it's for
R6 Regional Council in Richfield, formerly the Six County Association of Governments, is the Area Agency on Aging for Juab, Millard, Piute, Sanpete, Sevier and Wayne counties. Senior center services are for people 60 and older and their spouses of any age, and all of them are by donation: information and referral, outreach, legal and supportive services, rides to medical visits and shopping, health fairs and Medicare help. Home-delivered and group meals are also for people 60 and older; a home-delivered meal needs an assessment by the local senior center, and the suggested donation is $3.00 per meal. The Alternatives program offers in-home help such as homemaker, personal care and an emergency response system for adults 18 and older, with fees on a sliding scale. The Caregiver Support Program gives short-term relief to people caring for someone 60 or older, up to $1,500 a year. The Aging Medicaid Waiver helps people 65 and older stay at home instead of a nursing home. For in-home programs, call the intake specialist at 435-893-0731. For Medicare help (SHIP), call 435-893-0728. In Juab County, the local senior center is the East Juab Senior Center in Nephi (146 North Main, basement), 435-623-7306.
Most services are free or by donation, and some have waiting lists. Older Americans Act services start at age 60. Medicaid (through the Department of Workforce Services) decides Medicaid Waiver eligibility.
