How to apply for Real Estate Tax Relief for the Elderly & Disabled — Bedford

Who it's for
Bedford County offers real estate tax relief (exemption) for homeowners who are 65 or older or permanently disabled. Total household income must be $50,000 or less, and net worth (not counting the home) must be $150,000 or less. Partial exemption on the primary residence, based on tax due: 100% exemption if tax due is $500 or less; 85% exemption if tax due is between $500 and $1,000. Annual application between January 2 and February 28, in person at the Commissioner of Revenue's Office, 122 East Main St., Bedford. Apply through the local commissioner of the revenue or assessment office.
