How to apply for Real Estate Tax Relief for the Elderly & Disabled — Carroll
Carroll County Commissioner of the Revenue / assessment office
Who it's for
Carroll County offers real estate tax relief (exemption) for homeowners who are 65 or older or permanently disabled. Total household income must be $40,000 or less, and net worth (not counting the home) must be $125,000 or less. Must be age 65 by December 31, 2025 or 100% permanently and totally disabled; exemption covers the residence and up to one acre with a maximum $250 of relief. Note: Carroll's stated net-worth test says it includes real estate. Prior-year taxes must be paid; no applications processed after March 1. Apply through the local commissioner of the revenue or assessment office.
Limits shown are Carroll County's current published figures; relief brackets, filing windows, and exclusions are set by local ordinance and the locality makes the final determination, so this shows as a may-qualify result.
