Who it's for

Clarke County offers real estate tax relief (exemption) for homeowners who are 65 or older or permanently disabled. Total household income must be $55,000 or less, and net worth (not counting the home) must be $250,000 or less. Residence must be the applicant's primary residence. Applications due May 1 of the year relief is sought (the Commissioner's main page lists an April 1 form deadline in its important-dates list; the real-estate page states May 1). Commissioner of the Revenue office: 101 Chalmers Ct., Berryville. Apply through the local commissioner of the revenue or assessment office.

Limits shown are Clarke County's current published figures; relief brackets, filing windows, and exclusions are set by local ordinance and the locality makes the final determination, so this shows as a may-qualify result.
