Who it's for

Cumberland County offers real estate tax relief (exemption) for homeowners who are 65 or older or permanently disabled. Total household income must be $30,000 or less, and net worth (not counting the home) must be $100,000 or less. Age 65+ or permanently and totally disabled by December 31 of the preceding year; home plus one acre excluded from net worth; relief is a credit toward the current tax bill capped at $500 per year ('Tax relief amount is based on your income and amount of tax, but cannot exceed $500 per year.'); file with the Commissioner of the Revenue by April 1 annually. Apply through the local commissioner of the revenue or assessment office.
