City of Danville Commissioner of the Revenue / assessment office

Who it's for

City of Danville offers real estate tax relief (exemption) for homeowners who are 65 or older or permanently disabled. Total household income must be $40,000 or less, and net worth (not counting the home) must be $50,000 or less. Exemption on real estate and mobile homes for owners 65+ (or permanently and totally disabled) as of June 30 of the preceding tax year. Income limit is $40,000, or $47,500 for permanently/totally disabled applicants (who also deduct $7,500 from income). Net worth excludes the dwelling and up to one acre. Applications processed July-September at the Senior Citizen Center (434-799-5216); year-round questions to the Real Estate Division (434-799-5120). Apply through the local commissioner of the revenue or assessment office.

Limits shown are City of Danville's current published figures; relief brackets, filing windows, and exclusions are set by local ordinance and the locality makes the final determination, so this shows as a may-qualify result.
