Pittsylvania County offers real estate tax relief (exemption) for homeowners who are 65 or older or permanently disabled. Total household income must be $35,000 or less, and net worth (not counting the home) must be $70,000 or less. Relief on the home plus up to 1 acre, maximum relief $600 per year. Age 65+ by January 1, or permanently and totally disabled (documented by Social Security, a government office, or two physicians). Apply by February 15 annually (email pccor@pittgov.org for an application). Apply through the Pittsylvania County Commissioner of the Revenue.
