Rappahannock County offers real estate tax relief (exemption) for homeowners who are 65 or older or permanently disabled. Total household income must be $50,000 or less, and net worth (not counting the home) must be $200,000 or less. Exemption applied to the dwelling and up to five acres; maximum award $2,500 per applicant; annual reapplication (returning applicants Jan 1 - Apr 1, new applicants Jan 1 - Jun 1); if income is $25,000 or less, 100% exempt up to the maximum.
