Who it's for

City of Suffolk offers real estate tax relief (exemption) for homeowners who are 65 or older or permanently disabled. Total household income must be $75,583 or less, and net worth (not counting the home) must be $338,759 or less. Reduction/exemption on the home and up to 10 acres. Brackets: combined income $0-$57,801 = 100% relieved; $57,802-$66,693 = 50%; $66,694-$75,583 = 25%, capped at the median value of single-family residential property. Age 65 as of June 30 or permanently and totally disabled; first $10,000 of each relative's income exempted. Apply annually with Suffolk DSS January 1 - June 30. Apply through the local commissioner of the revenue or assessment office.
