How to apply for METS — Free Volunteer-Driver Rides to Medical Appointments (Tehama County) in California

Tehama Rural Area eXpress (TRAX)

Who it's for

METS gives free rides to and from medical appointments for Tehama County residents who would otherwise struggle to get there. Volunteer drivers are matched to your approved appointment. It covers doctor and specialist visits, hospitals and medical centres, dialysis, physical therapy, medical testing and imaging, and other approved healthcare destinations. Rides run Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 3:30pm. Apply first, then schedule each trip.

Rides are free but you must be approved first, and each trip has to be for an approved medical appointment. TRAX says "Eligibility requirements may vary based on individual circumstances and transportation needs" and publishes no age or income test, so call to check. Service is weekdays only, 8:30am to 3:30pm, and depends on a volunteer driver being available.

People who qualify for one senior program often qualify for others. See everything you may qualify for — free, no SSN, about five minutes.
