How to apply for Citrus County SHIP Home Repair and Emergency Home Repair in Florida

Citrus County Community Services — Housing Services (State Housing Initiatives Partnership, SHIP)

Who it's for

Citrus County Housing Services uses state SHIP funds to repair homes owned by low-income households. The Home Repair program fixes serious structural, health and safety problems, such as foundations, wiring, the roof, heating or cooling, water and septic systems, and changes that make the home easier to get around for a family member with a disability. The Emergency Home Repair program pays for urgent repairs that are an immediate threat to health and safety, such as a new roof, electrical or plumbing repairs, or heating and cooling repair. These programs fix hazards; they do not remodel. You do not repay the help as long as you keep living in the home. Help is first come, first qualified, first served while funds last. Call 352-527-5200, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

You must own the home and live in it. Help depends on funding, and only repairs within what SHIP can pay for are done. If you sell, rent, refinance or transfer the home within five years, you must pay back all of the help; in years six through nine you pay back part of it. The screen uses the 2026 SHIP low-income limit for one person in Citrus County ($44,700); bigger households have higher limits. The county makes the final decision.
