How to apply for Franklin County Senior Meals — Elder Care Community Council (E Triple C) Hot Lunches + OAA Meals via Liberty County Senior Citizens Association in Florida

Elder Care Community Council of Franklin County, Inc. (ECCC, 'E Triple C') — a countywide volunteer 501(c)(3) (since 2016) that serves hot lunches at Holy Family Senior Center, 203 Dr Frederick S. Humphries Street, Apalachicola, and is not the Area Agency on Aging's contracted provider; Older Americans Act congregate and home-delivered meals for Franklin County are delivered by Liberty County Senior Citizens Association, Inc., the Lead Agency for Franklin County under Advantage Aging Solutions (PSA 2 Area Agency on Aging), Franklin Branch at 302 NW Avenue F, Carrabelle

Who it's for

Two ways for Franklin County seniors age 60 or older to get a daily meal. (1) Elder Care Community Council of Franklin County (ECCC, 'E Triple C') is a countywide volunteer nonprofit that serves a hot lunch Monday through Friday at Holy Family Senior Center in Apalachicola, for dining in and for delivery to homebound elders, along with activities, outreach, supplies such as fans and blankets, and rides to appointments. WFSU reported in October 2024 that ECCC was "providing food for 100 to 110 senior citizens every day, Monday through Friday." Call the senior center at 850-370-0116 or ECCC at 850-509-5009 (ecccfranklin@gmail.com). (2) Older Americans Act meals: Advantage Aging Solutions lists Liberty County Senior Citizens Association as the Lead Agency for Franklin County, so OAA congregate meals and home-delivered meals for homebound seniors are arranged through its Franklin Branch in Carrabelle (850-697-2371) or the Elder Helpline for Franklin County at 866-467-4624. Eligibility for OAA services is age 60 or older; home-delivered meals require homebound status. Franklin County's own Senior Citizen Services page refers residents to the Area Agency on Aging for North Florida (850-488-0055).

ECCC is a volunteer nonprofit, not the Older Americans Act provider: it runs the Apalachicola hot-lunch program on donations and fundraisers, and in October 2024 its president told WFSU that demand "is now starting to outstrip the resources available." ECCC's own website (ecccfranklin.org) has been taken over by an unrelated gambling site, so do not use it; call instead. Formal OAA congregate and home-delivered meals for Franklin County come through Liberty County Senior Citizens Association's Franklin Branch in Carrabelle or the Elder Helpline at 866-467-4624, and home-delivered meals require an assessment of homebound status. Congregate dining at Holy Family Senior Center is in Apalachicola; seniors in Eastpoint, St. George Island, or Carrabelle may need Franklin County Transportation for a ride.
