How to apply for Gulf County Transit — Big Bend Transit in Florida

Big Bend Transit, Inc. — the community transportation coordinator for Gulf County under Florida's Transportation Disadvantaged program

Who it's for

Gulf County has no fixed-route bus service. Rides are booked through Big Bend Transit, the county's community transportation coordinator under Florida's Transportation Disadvantaged program. Big Bend Transit provides curb-to-curb rides (Monday–Friday 8 a.m.–5 p.m.) for medical appointments, work, shopping and other trips, including Medicaid non-emergency medical transportation; the fare is waived for TD-eligible riders. Call the Gulf County office at 850-229-6550 (option 1) by 2:00 p.m. the day before the ride — call Friday for a Monday ride.

Rides must be reserved in advance and eligibility for the subsidized Transportation Disadvantaged fare is determined by Big Bend Transit. The age-60 screen used here is a catalog convention for the senior TD pathway — Florida's Transportation Disadvantaged definition (Ch. 427 F.S.) sets no numeric age threshold, and riders under 60 may qualify through the disability or low-income TD pathways. The agency makes the final decision. Not legal or financial advice.
